So, as a way to make them think there was a larger plan behind his zombie apocalypse, he lied and said it was all actually a big setup for an alien invasion. ![]() The publisher feared there was no longevity to a zombie comic book, and there had never been a successful one in comics history. ![]() Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, revealed (in documentaries The Image Revolution from 2013 and the recent Robert Kirkman's Secret History Of Comics on AMC) that he had to tell a pretty big lie in order to get Image Comics to publish the comic way back in 2003.
